PeriVision<\/a><\/span>,<\/u> an innovative spin-off from the University of Bern and the University Hospital Bern, announces that it has entered into a distribution agreement with VONHOFF<\/a><\/span>, a leading ophthalmic medical device distributor in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, to commercialize the VisionOne VR eye testing platform with an initial focus on visual field testing for glaucoma.<\/p>\n This collaboration is a wonderful milestone for eye care in Switzerland, where glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness. Two out of every hundred people aged 40 and over suffer from glaucoma, 50,000 Swiss people are known to suffer from glaucoma caused by increased intraocular pressure, 10 percent of whom are at risk of blindness. However, the Swiss Ophthalmological Society (SOG) points out that the number of unreported cases in this area is very high. It is assumed that a total of around 100,000 people in Switzerland are affected by glaucoma.
